🌌 Welcome Back, Stargazers!
I know it's still Summer but we're almost there to our Autumn Nights Returning, soon, and So Are We!
After a bright and brilliant summer break, there’s something magical about catching that first glimpse of stars in the late evening sky again. Last night, as the twilight finally began to deepen, a few familiar stars winked back into view — a quiet reminder that our dark skies are returning. And with them, so are we.

We hope you’ve had a lovely, light-filled summer. The club has been on its usual June and July pause, but as August rolls in, we’re ready to reconnect under the stars with you all.

🔭 What’s Coming Up
We’re kicking off the season with one of the sky’s most spectacular shows: the Perseid Meteor Shower! The peak is around August 12th, and we’re planning a casual BBQ night for club members and guests to gather, share some food, and enjoy the show — weather permitting, of course. Full event details will be posted soon.

Other things to look forward to in the coming weeks include:

The return of our monthly club meetings (August 5th) - Guest Speaker Fraser Baird
A Beginner’s Stargazing Guide on the website
Fresh night sky guides and upcoming observing events
Talks, photos, and new ways to get involved
Whether you’re a seasoned telescope pro or just curious about the night sky, you’re warmly welcome.

🌠 The Sky’s Getting Darker...
As the nights stretch out, we’ll soon have front-row seats to autumn constellations, Saturn rising high, and crisp Milky Way views. Now is the perfect time to dust off the gear, top up the hot chocolate stash, and step outside again.

We’re excited for what’s ahead — and even more excited to share it with you.

Here’s to a new season of stars, community, and awe.

🪐 Clear skies,
Lisa Pattenden
